Obituary of Joseph Jacksic

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joseph Jacksic at the Westbury Long Term Care Residence in Etobicoke on Tuesday January 1, 2019 at the age of 90 following a brief illness.​

Joe was raised in the small northern Ontario farming community of Brethour Township and was the eldest son of Ane (Tonkovic) and Frank Jacksic who immigrated from Croatia in the mid 1920s.   ​​

​

​​​In his early years, Joe worked on the family farm and that is also where he met his next door neighbour and future wife Muriel. The family moved to Dymond Township (New Liskeard) in late 1967 and were among the first to settle in that area. Joseph transitioned from farming and logging to trucking and as the trucking business grew, the Jacksic Brothers Sand and Gravel Company was founded and operated along with his brothers Mike and George. Joseph, like his brothers, had an impeccable work ethic and strong passion for his work.  He retired in his late 60s then travelled overseas to his parents' birthplace to meet the extended family for the first time. Joe loved country music, animals (especially cats) and will be lovingly remembered as a devoted, caring husband and father, always putting others first. ​​

​​Joe is survived by his wife Muriel (Gosselin), his children Steve (Carole Lalonde), Brian, Jennifer (aka Nicole) and Jeff, his grandchildren Brea-Anna (Nathan McGonegal), Kayleen, Kimberley, Mitchell, his great grandchildren Zoey and Daxton as well as many nieces, nephews and close relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Mike and George.​​

Joseph's family invites you to join them to celebrate his life at the New Liskeard Catholic Cemetery for a graveside service at 11 am on Saturday August 17, 2019. A reception will follow at the New Liskeard Golf Club from 12:30 until 3 pm.
