Condolences
Hello. It's been over two years since Shelley died, and I had no idea until today. I was one of Shelley's first skating students in Kirkland Lake. Shelley came to our club and brought with her an incredible passion for skating and so much energy. I loved skating, but Shelley helped me to love it even more. My memories of her are so fond and the connection she had with me as a student was amazing. Even though this note is so long after her death, I hope her family knows that she touched my life in a special way. Best wishes to Shelley's family and friends. Rest in Peace Shelley. - Janice Alguire (Hamden)

She was taken to young but she is not in any pain now. She will be welconed with open arms by many that went before her. She had a voice that not a soul could ignore. I believe that everyone from her life past and present will love her always and her spirit will always be a big part of many lives.

Such a sad loss. Was so happy to have reconnected with Shelley a few years back. Thinking of you all and sending sincere condolences for your loss. Heather (Matheson) Parkinson
Please accept our sincere condolences and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during your time of sorrow. Shelley often walked through our neighbourhood and, when we happened to meet, would comment about our grandchildren, particularly how much Nessie and Justin enjoyed them. Such a beautiful smile; such a vibrant spirit.
To all of Shelley's family and friends, out deepest condolences. Shelley was such a part of the community and touched so many lives in so many ways. She will be missed by so many but also remembered fondly by so many. We were all lucky to have her in our lives.
I can't even image what you are going though as a family as I myself grieve her loss. It was a privilege and honor having Shelley as my daughter's skating coach. We all needed a little Shelley in our lives. Whether she met us at the rink, in town or anywhere for that matter, Shelley had something positive to say about you or your family and you'd always leave feeling uplifted. I valued her words of encouragement to my daughter in skating and in life but also the ones she gave me, a mother of a teenaged daughter. I will forever carry her words of wisdom and life lessons with me as I journey through my tomorrows. "I friggin' love you too Shelley and will miss you always". My sincere condolences to her family.
Dear Lynn I am saddened to hear of your sister’s passing. I hope you find comfort in loving memories of her.
My thoughts are with you at this time, Paddy.
Condolences to the family. I have not seen Shelley much since High School, but we spent a fair bit of time together. SO VIBRANT and full of life!! Memories of her on the ice, singing at the top of her lungs this song (hoping I can post a you tube link?) The song was "Shelley Made Me Smile". Happy Skating, my friend.
(here's the link to the song)

Kaye, my heart is with you and your family.
Hugs!
Dear Kaye, Rich, Sam & Ness, Lynn & Larry, Rick and Cindy (and family)
I was very shocked and saddened to learn of Shelley's death … She was such a firecracker and her face always beamed with that gorgeous smile of hers! I remember her best during my skating years … she was a natural (those spins, jumps and that dexterity)! I always laugh when I remember her trying to master the tango or other dances as being in time with the music was sometimes a challenge for her (lol)! No words can take away your sadness and grief … just know that Shelley made a huge impact in the lives of many! Please know that all of you will be in our thoughts and prayers … Sincerely, Lynn (on behalf of the entire O'Farrell family)
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Shelley. I taught with Shelley for many years in Haileybury. She was a beautiful lady and loved to teach her students. My condolences to the family. She will be missed.
Sad sad news..... Wonderful lady that will be sadly missed by many. Condolences to her friends and family.
Our hearts are travelling with you all as you turn our lovely Shelley over to the angels.May God hold you in the palm of his hand during this very difficult time.
My deepest condolences To you Richard and Sam, she will always be remembered.
The words and feelings of how much Shelley means to me go far beyond what words can say.
She is nothing more then a huge inspiration, a beloved family member and her smile and love for life will be greatly missed.
Her consistant and unconditional support and teaching was like no other. I even remember massaging her swollen feet after a full day of being on the ice teaching figure skating to the kids in the community and installing great values to live by. And also her love for Elvis Stoiko when I was young.
To Sam and Nessie. I think of you often and you girls will always hold a special place in my heart. Now. Forever and always. Just remember we may not be close but you are always in my heart.
Shelley's love, smile, and most of all her happy laugh will hold true in my mind for the rest of my life.
Always remembered and never forgotten.
I love you Aunt Shelley.
Heaven gained another angel.
Love always and forever
Andrew and Cheryl Herbert
My deepest condolences to the entire family. We have crossed paths from the dirt pen with our horses and our winter homes on the ice. Shelley will be greatly missed.
I've been reading the notes Shelley wrote me on the bills for skating lessons. Always how much she loved my daughter and what a good job I was doing. I wish I made sure I told her the same.
Now, I will always miss getting a "bill" for skating. I would give anything for one more invoice - truly, this person has been promoted to glory. She will be missed, everyday.
Dear Kaye, Rich, Sam, Ness, Lynn & Larry, Kaylin & Casey, Rick & Cindy
We are so saddened to hear of Shelley’s passing. It is a shock to all of us. There are no words to express the sorrow we feel for you.

P.S. I am in Vancouver so I can’t be at Shelley’s Funeral Mass but I will be there in prayer. (Rosemary)
My sincere and heartfelt condolences to Shelley’s family. I was shocked and heartbroken to hear the news of Shelley’s passing. She was my summer skating coach for many years and was such a positive influence for me, as I know she was for so many others. I adored her... Her generous spirit, smile, energy and enthusiasm was infectious and would warm any room —even a cold arena at 7am! Her passing represents a tremendous loss, a beautiful soul taken way too soon! I will always remember Shelley - how she inspired, cared, and ultimately brought out the best in everyone around her.
May her family and friends find peace and comfort in the beautiful memories shared.
Deepest condolences to the entire family of Shelley. So many amazing memories of Shelley and her family and all the visits I had in New Liskeard growing up. A very thoughtful, fun loving lady. ❤️Shannon

In our thoughts and prayers.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Shelley's family and loved ones. Many of my fondest memories of the rink include Shelley. Her abundant energy! Her contagious laugh! The work ethic and confidence she helped instil in so many of us. She was such a big part of our formative years and, as a result, made a significant contribution to who we are today. Hoping that, with time, the pain suffered by her loss is soothed by only the happiest of memories of this very special woman.
Sincerely,
Shannon Matheson
Dear Richard,Sam,Nessie,Kay,Lynn and families. Please accept our heartfelt condolences in the loss of your beautiful Shelley. She surely was one of a kind! I can still hear her saying “I friggin’ love you” whenever we would have a chat.We would share stories of our kids and I would brag about my grandkids. She would always be interested and the smile would never leave her face.I don’t recall ever seeing her walk slow. She was always going like a bat out of hell, dashing here and there ,but always taking time to stop and have a chat or share a hug.Shelley was so very proud of Sam and Nessie and would just glow when she was telling you about their latest adventures. Her emotions were never silent! Her devotion and endless hours with all of the children and adults that she guided through the arenas was legendary.Shelley’s spirit will live on in this community forever.Rest in Peace, dear lady.Your light shines on.

Jenny, Shane and family
Dear Kaye, Rich, Sam, Ness, Lynn, Rick and families..there are no words that anyone can say to ease your pain but Shelley’s vibrant personality and larger than life attitude will always live on. Her beauty, both inside and out, was hard not to notice. She loved everyone, and wasn’t afraid to say it. Her decorating skills and taste were second to none. She recently helped me pick out our paint colours for our new house and was going to be coming out to add her decorating touch. I’m going to miss her silly little text messages. Another special lady gone way too soon. Much love and light to all of you, hugs, Darren & Carol Hearn and family
My deepest sympathy. Shelley was a wonderful person who loved life and all it had to offer. She will be remembered and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Dear family and friends,
I’m so sorry for your loss. Many memories of skating in New Liskeard and hearing her lovely voice and laugh. Condolences to her family and friends.
Dear Sam, Vanessa, Lynn, Kay and families;
Words seem so empty to share at this terrible loss for you and your families. Your hearts must be shattered.
Shelley was a ray of shine sun in our community. She was well respected and so loved.
Losing a piece of your heart is irreversible; allow yourself to grieve. The pain will always be there; however it will not be as sharp in time.
Please embrace the strength and understanding of your family members and dear friends.
My deepest condolences to all who loved and cherished Shelley.
Patti Dubois (Jackson)
Hi Kay.Lynn and all the family. We were shocked when Stevie called to night to give us the sad news. She was so young. Guess we never know eh? And probably good that we don't. Take care until we talk. Ronnie and Marlene

Love, Anne and Ray Paradis
I often talk about Shelley. She was the best figure skater coach/teacher. Both of my children learned to skate because of her talents. They were also members of the Haileybury Figure Skating Club. My son Reece would always try to skate off the ice during practices. She would watch him and just before he could reach the door which would be open; she would skate right up to the door and in her stern voice would strongly encourage him to practice. He would always reply “ok Shelley” and skate off. I would wait for this exchange at every practice. It was within 4 minutes or longer depending on his motivation that day. Always an appreciative word about Shelley when we tell that story to friends. Erin still plays hockey as an adult. Both of my children are fantastic skaters because of her skills. Shelley contributed to the skating community in a lot of ways. Thank you kind lady for sharing your skating talents.
My sincere condolences to the family.
I have known Shelley for some time now and got to know her more when she lived here in Latchford for a short time. Our conversations at the Post office were just wonderful. She had such a love for animals and she loved my little dog Cooper (who I brought to work each day). When she moved back to New Liskeard, we really missed her and would see her once in awhile and catch up. She had a warm, way about her.
My heart breaks for Shelley's family. She was just so lovely. Life is just so not fair. Why god chooses to take the good ones
, we will never know. Heaven has gained a true angel! This I know for sure!
My condolences to her girls, her mom and sister Lynn (another angel...here on earth) and families. I am truly sorry for your loss.
Dear Kay and family...I was devastated to hear that Shelly has passed on. My sincere and deepest sympathy to you and your family. Keep the precious memories you have of Shelly close to your heart and they will help you all get throgh this difficult time. Love and hugs to all. Linda.
With the entire community I add

We will be forever thankful that she was in our lives. Sending thoughts, strength and love to her family and to all of the families that her beautiful spirit touched.
Our deepest heart felt condolences to your family. We were so saddened to hear this news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you
To all of Shelly's family: Rory & I are in shock!! How can this be happening to such a young and vital lady. Shelly, you were the heart and soul of our figure skating community and I can't begin to count the number of boys & girls that you have touched in your career. You loved them all; hugs were always abundant. 7 am or 9 pm you were so full of energy and fun - and your love of skating carried over to your young skaters. I remember you coming by our house in Haileybury to look at my record collection to pick out music for carnival or James Bay - and we chuckled man a time imagining the routine that would resolve from the music. I recall sitting with you and Sandy at a wedding on New year's Eve one year and you got up to dance and I said to Rory" They are such a beautiful couple". God did not allow you to suffer and for that we must be thankful. Rest in peace Shelly; your work is just begun in heaven - may your skate on the river for ever. Love you to the moon and back.
My condolences to Shelley’s family. She was such a great lady and I am happy to have known her.
Our deepest condolences to all of Shelley’s family, such a huge ball of energy gone from our community. So many memories, laughs, tears, hugs and kisses, a huge part of our children’s growing up in all of our local rinks. All of these wonderful memories are with us forever, RIP
Condolences to Shelly’s family and friends. I recall how when teaching Dave and Luc CanSkate she would chase behind them encouraging them to go faster, with good spirit and humour and laughter.
The community has lost a great leader for our youth.
The Dowers

Our hearts are heavy as this is being sent and wishes that we could be there in person to deliver our hugs in person rather than by email from BC. Dearest Kaye, Lynn , Rich ,Samantha,Vanessa &Families;
I am so very sorry for your loss! My sincerest condolences to each and every one of you !
I write this with such sadness in my heart ! A vibrant life snuffed out like a candle in the wind!
Shelley was one of a kind and touched so many lives in so many ways! We each have such fond and cherished memories of times spent with Shelley! That’s what makes this all so difficult !
Shelley entered my life in a whirlwind and has left the same way ! Our friendship was typical in many ways! We were there for each other through the loss of those we loved but also for the birth of those we loved as well.
We laughed at the silliest of things and cried when that’s all we could do ! I knew she had my back as I had hers if need be! It was quietly understood ! We respected each other even when we disagreed! That was why our friendship lasted over 35 yrs!
I will miss her endless questions that were often repeated ! Most of all I’ll miss her messages all in ‘Caps’. That was Shelley and I wouldn’t change a darn thing !
She always would ask “Do you love me ? I would reply “ What a silly question Shelley , of course I do , I have always loved you” . Off she would go happy knowing how you felt !
Well Shelley , my answer will always remain the same . I will love you always ! Your friendship was a treasure found no where else but in our hearts! Rest In Peace my friend ! Until we meet again!
May God be with all of you and help you through this most difficult time !
Love Akways
Gail❤️
There are no words to express our sorrow.
Shelley stopped by Spencer Jewellers almost daily on her walk.
She loved the girls and they shared a million stories and laughs together.
She was so upset when we sold the building and she was very emotional thinking she was going to lose our daily connection with her......we promised a lunch date together.
Its so difficult to except that the tables have been turned on us and we have to work through Shelley's passing.
Shelley loved her girls and her family dearly....... our hearts go out to all of them.
Shelley touched so many lives in this community that she will be truly missed.
Our deepest sympathies
Sam, Vanessa, Rick and all familyo

Shelley was such a special person who was so proud of her own girls as well as so many other children. When Matt and Shelley had a visit at Scott and Kayla's wedding she made him feel so special and it truly warmed our hearts. I can only imagine the crafty, homey renovations Heaven is now undergoing as it's newest angel works her magic to make it an extra special place. Rest in Peace Shelley. You did so much for our entire community, you will be missed. We are so sorry for your loss.
