Condolences
I am deeply saddened to only just hear of Celine's death. Gary, so sorry for your loss. I recall many fun moments in our university days. I have always held great memories of our time together. She had a great sense of fun & we often joked about what she would find on sale! I regret we didn't get together later on as our families grew. She was special. My condolences to your and her children. Take care, Lori DeJong
I remember Celine, my dear cousin, as a woman of love, warmth, and kindness. As children we played joyfully in the garden of our grandparents in Montebello and at our respective homes in Oakville, Ontario and Rochester, New York, surrounded by our loving families. Celine was the child who loved to laugh and bring happiness to all of those around her.
Years took us to very different universes, where our paths seldom crossed, as we each raised our families. But I always admired all that she accomplished as she devoted herself, not only to raising her own children, but to educating youth and enhancing the lives of others.
Celine, thank you for inspiring us with your goodness. You will live forever in our hearts.
The whole Alten and Kaehler family sends our deepest sympathy.
Love,
Your Cousin Michelle
Early July, 2019
I am sitting at the large kitchen table in Grand’papa and Grand-maman’s house (I rent it for a week every year to renew myself) and there is a knock at the door.
Incredible! it is Celine. What a surprise! She is just returning from an educational conference in the Laurentians. We haven’t seen each other for a few years. We exchange the news about our families but Celine has her professional hat on. She says she always learns so much about students from other teachers, counselors, principals and school board members from other areas. Over a cup of tea and cookies, we have an exchange of ideas for an hour and a half.
As a former elementary school teacher, I admire Celine and let her expound on her ideas. As she was teaching or serving as Principal, she continued year after year to take courses over the summer and attend conferences.
This is not the Celine who is often trying to make you laugh. This is the serious, pragmatic Celine, always seeking more knowledge, more understanding, more ways to help students.
Celine, you still hold a large place in my heart and this is the way I want to remember you.
Your Aunt Jackie
I would like to express my sincere condolences to Mrs. Godreau's family and friends. I was a student in Mrs. Godreau's grade 10 math class at TDSS in 1992. I will always remember her enthusiasm and passion for teaching math. She went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that she supported all of her students. At the time, math was not my favourite subject, and I struggled to understand the curriculum. I am grateful for all of the time she spent providing extra help and encouragement. I am now an intermediate teacher and have spent much of the last twenty years teaching kids who are struggling in math. Mrs. Godreau's passion became mine. I have thought of her often over the years and wished I could have shared with her that she had a such a positive influence on my professional pathway.
Over the years, I have learned that every student has "that" teacher - the one who continue to influence them long after they have left his or her classroom. Without a doubt, Mrs. Godreau was "that" teacher for me.

My sincere condolences to Gary and all the family. Celine was one of a kind, god broke the mould after she was born. I enjoyed our chats and many laughs (usually at Gary’s expense). A fantastic person!! RIP Celine
My condolences to all of Celine's family and friends. I got to know her when our kids were babysat at the same place. We hadn't seen each other much after those years but every time we did see each other it was always with much happiness and laughter. She was a wonderful person. Rest in peace, Celine.
We are so sad. It was devastating to here of Celine's passing. I am grateful that I had a visit with her in September. Although her battle was well underway, she was her usual smiling, laughing, positive self.
The memory of Celine that I would like to share is her generosity. As I get ready for Christmas I am setting out several lovely gifts from years gone by: Santas, ornaments, a star even a cookie jar. All of them bringing memories of her generous nature.
23 years ago we brought our adopted son home from the USA. As we approached our house we found a huge banner spanning the length of our porch reading: Welcome Home It's a Boy!
Who goes to that trouble? Celine.
I have a very vivid memory of Celine and her 3 little ones grinning and eager at the door. They held up a big Bristol board homemade card that said Happy Birthday Al and the kids had decorated it by gluing Al's favorite candies all over it.
Good memories of a friend who was always ready to celebrate with us.
Our deepest condolences to you Gary, Brendan, Cayley and Kieran. We miss you and we will miss Celine.

She will be enormously missed. I remember her as a dedicated, dynamic, principled teacher and administrator. I am thinking of your family fondly and sending along prayers during this time of great loss.
So sorry to hear of Celine's passing! As teachers and Principals ourselves, both Carol and I had the utmost respect and admiration for Celine's professionalism and dedication! We valued her friendship and our discussions with her during our time together as teachers and administrators. Condolences to her family and may your memories of her sustain you and give you strength through this tough time.

So sorry to learn of Celine's passing. My late husband enjoyed working with you in your chosen fields of education. I remember the three of us chatting on our street where we solved the troubles of the world she was dynamic. RIP.
Celine was a pleasure to know as a friend, neighbour and colleague. When we worked together at TDSS, Celine was very supportive, dedicated, hardworking and thoughtful both as a teacher and administrator. I was shock to hear of her passing and my prays are with her family. She was a Lady.

I've modified a Robert Louis Stevenson quote for my sister Celine, which is one of my favorite quotes.
" That women is a success who has lived well. laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent people and the love of children; who has filled her niche and accomplished her task; who leaves the world better than she found it...who never lacked appreciation for the earth's beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best she had"
Wow what a successful life! She will be missed by all, but never forgotten by any!
Gary, Brendon, Cayley and Kieran know your family is grieving with you, but know we are only a call away anytime.
Celine rest in peace, Brenda, and I send our love!
Till we meet again.
Denis

It was a pleasure working with Celine during her short term as principal at Kerns Public School. She was very caring would always take the time to ask about how my children were doing. May your wonderful memories of Celine comfort you during this difficult time. Billie Richer

To the entire Goudreault Family our deepest sympathies.
To Celine's family.
Even though Celine and I have rarely seen each other in the last 15 years, I count her as a dear and true friend. We taught together for many years and I admired and respected her. She brought humour along wherever she went and she was always entertaining. One time I drove us home from St. Catherine's and she regaled me with stories, happy and sad, all the way making the trip seem so short. I loved it! In the day I remember finishing off several Hallowe'ens together sharing a little nip as couples while enjoying our kids. I have finally forgiven Celine for sitting me in her "trick" chair which toppled over backwards when I laughed too hard!
Laughter is what I remember most about Celine. Even though times were not always easy for Celine with many obstacles in her way, she took them in her stride and kept her distress out of public view.
Her determination and conscientious attitude were always an inspiration to me. I marveled at what she could accomplish in her personal as well as her professional life.
Her students were lucky to have such a dedicated and caring lady in their classroom. And when she became an administrator, she could be counted on to do what was right and just. She was only my vice principal for a short period of time, but she shone in the position.
Celine's death has hit me hard and I have so many "should've" regrets...
But I am comforted by our shared faith.
To the family. What a perfect obituary you have written for Celine. I found it very comforting. You have been dearly loved by this treasure of a woman and your love for her meant the world.
Sending prayers

Sending heartfelt condolences from our home to yours at this difficult time. I will always remember and treasure Celine’s kind and caring demeanour at TDSS. She was fair and always there to help the underdog! She will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace and soar with the Angels..you’ve definitely earned your wings...sincerely, Darren, Carol, Arren, Lindsay & Shelbey Hearn and families
Always positive & optimistic, somewhat talkative, a memory that was very good- perhaps too good at times, generous to a fault, highly principled and very determined in reaching her goals, she provided an excellent model for her children and her students. My baby sister was a joy to have with us growing up and I will miss her deeply.
Mark
I was shocked and saddened to hear. My heart goes out to all of you. Nothing will replace Celine's laugh, and yes her love of a great stooooorryy!
