Obituary of Sheila Connors

In loving memory of Sheila Connors who passed away at the Temiskaming Hospital surrounded by family on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the age of 71.

Sheila will be missed by her loving husband, Don, her children Kim (Shane Dixon), Scott (Laurie) and, her precious grandchildren Madison Connors, Landon Connors, Lily Dixon, Brooke Connors, Emmett Dixon, her “Swiss adopted” daughter, Eliane Gesseney-Laeri, her siblings Lois Dearden, Velma  Nichol (Fred), Barb Somerville, Lorne Flood (Eleanor), Laura-Jean Costello (Nelson), and Dorothy Anne Flood.  She will also be greatly missed by in-laws, Marney Flood, Alice Flood, Patricia Flood, Patricia Klimtschuk (George), Gerry Connors, Sandra Hooker (Mike),  Andre Connors (Debbie), Mark Connors (Kathy), James Connors, Linda Connors, and Sean Connors.  Her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews will miss her and the yearly cards she sent to celebrate their birthdays.

She was predeceased by her parents Wycliffe and Barbara Flood, and step-mother Laura Flood; as well as her siblings Joyce Nichol, Jean Haleschuck, Dan Flood, John “Bud” Flood, Leonard Flood, Keith Flood, and Clarence Flood, and in-laws Dave Dearden, Lawrence Nichol, Bill Somerville, Paula Connors, Bob Connors, and John Haleschuck.

Born in New Liskeard, raised in Henwood Township, Sheila attended the McCool School, Kerns Public School, and New Liskeard High School.  On October 11, 1968, Sheila married Don Connors.  In their 50-year marriage they raised two children and were proud grandparents to five amazing grandchildren.

She co-operated Don Connors Sawmill, which was started in 1980, with her husband Don.  The company later expanded and grew into Connors Sand and Gravel which was co-owned with her son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Laurie.  She loved being at the cottage, making puzzles, playing Yahtzee, Scrabble, crosswords, and spending time with her family and friends.  She was selfless in her approach to life, always considering her loved ones first.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Ryan Sayer, Dr. Don Davies, and all of the nursing staff at the Temiskaming Hospital for their support and kindness during her journey battling cancer. 

Sheila’s family will receive friends and family on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 7 pm until 9 pm at the Perrin Funeral Chapel.  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

If desired, donations can be made to the Temiskaming Hospital Day Medicine Room and will be gratefully acknowledged.
