Obituary of John Drinkill

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the death of John Edward Drinkill at the age of 79  John is survived by his wife Pauline (Lajoie) of 53 years, his daughter Tracy (Dave Moulton) and his son Donald (Patricia Hewitt and daughter Brittainy).  He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Ruth (Cook) Drinkill and his brother William (Bill) Drinkill.

Born on April 18, 1940, John grew up beside the Wabi River on Pine Street in New Liskeard. Developing a passion for autobody repair, John mastered the trade for decades ultimately opening his own shop, J.D. Repairs, in August 1992. Some of his best work was reflected in his antique cars (Dodge of course) which he displayed with pride. Serving his community, he was also an awarded volunteer firefighter for the Dymond Fire Department for 35 years.

John enjoyed the outdoors and was happiest when at the cottage, camping, hunting or fishing.  With his quick wit and wonderful sense of humour, he brought smiles and laughter to all who knew him.  Living life to the fullest, he will be deeply missed by his beloved family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 4 at the Dymond Community Centre with a luncheon to follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations made to Temiskaming Hospital Care Close to Home will be gratefully acknowledged.
