Gerald Blair

Obituary of Gerald Blair

In loving memory of Gerald Blair, who passed away suddenly at home on Monday April 22, 2019 on his 82nd birthday. Gerald will be missed by his wife Lorraine (nee Leveille), children David (Gabi) and Chris (Lori), grandchildren Cameron, Morgan, James and Amber and his brother Murray (May) and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents Alex and Bessie Blair and his sister Beth Moore.

Gerald was born in Orillia and, as a young boy, moved to the area and settled at Matabitchuan where his father was an operator for Ontario Hydro.  He developed his lifelong love of the outdoors, learning to hunt and fish and exploring the wilderness with his family. He met Lorraine at a curling bonspiel and the two of them continued to “hurry hard” together for many years. Gerald earned his Chartered Accountant designation in 1960 and went to work for Kemp and Kemp, eventually being promoted to partner and continuing to serve his many clients until his retirement.  He enjoyed his backyard and spending time at the cottage, often sitting for hours by the birdfeeders waiting to get the perfect picture of the hummingbirds.

The family will welcome friends at St Paul’s United Church on Friday, April 26 from 1 pm until 3 pm followed by a service of remembrance with Reverend Judith Visser officiating.

Donations to The Temiskaming Hospital’s Care Close to Home Campaign or the Temiskaming Foundation will be graciously accepted.

Gerald’s family would like to thank the Personal Support Workers from North East LHIN Home and Community Care and the nurses from Care Partners for their kind support.
