Obituary of Ruby Wilson

In loving memory of Ruby Bernice Wilson who passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday February 2, 2019 at the age of 90.

Ruby was born in Kingston, Ontario on May 29. 1928 to Frederick George Knowles and Mable Beatrice Knowles (nee Demaray).  She was educated in Orangeville, Ontario and later married her beloved husband Scott Wilson in Mona Mills on July 26, 1947. She was predeceased by both of her parents and her husband Scott (2005).

As a long-time resident of New Liskeard, Ruby worked as the payroll manager for Norcast Wabi for 32 years. She was an outstanding volunteer for the Arthritis Society, the New Liskeard Fall Fair, the Temiskaming Hospital, the Haileybury Food Bank and St Paul’s United Church to name a few. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, sewing, embroidery, quilting, making preserves, faithfully attending the Saturday morning farmers market and her afternoon coffee gatherings with many friends at Tim Hortons.

Ruby will be missed by her daughters Linda (Allan) Knight and Crystal (Rod) Young, her grandsons Graeme (Dawn) Knight, Grant (Brigitte) Knight, Kristen (Kate) Young and Kirk (Erin) Young, her great grandchildren Hayden, Chloe, Paige, and Brent Knight and Ella, Colin, Lily, Sarah and Andrew Young, her sister Betty (Tom) Leach and sister-in-law Patricia (Bob) Wilson and many nieces and nephews.

Ruby’s family will receive friends and family at the Perrin Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 2 pm until 4 pm and from 7 pm until 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 1 pm from St. Paul’s United Church. Rev. Judith Visser officiating.  Pallbearers will be grandsons Kristen and Kirk Young, Graeme and Grant Knight and nephews Shaun Wilson and Hayden Knight.
