Joyce Williams

Obituary of Joyce Williams

... One minute, our mom was there, the next she was gone ....

It is with broken hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Joyce Williams (nee Fairman) on December 26, 2018 at a wonderful age of 90 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Harold (Hal), her parents Jack and Harriet Fairman; her in-laws Harold and Lorene Williams; her siblings and their spouses Barbara and Ken Laronde, Myrna and Bob Dumond, Bob and Mary Fairman.

She is survived by her brother Jim Fairman (Inge) and sister-in-law Darleen Williams.  Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her children Tina Warrington (John), Karen Johnston (Rodney), Kim (Debbie) and Matt (Anita).  She was fortunate to have been blessed with the following grand-children; Carrie, Marty, Derek, Jason, Stephanie, Troy, Kris, Samantha and great-grand-children; Jessica, Robbie, James, Andrew, Liam, Levi, Ayla, Cassie and Tyson.

Joyce had to leave school in grade 10 to take care of her ill parents.  She worked very hard all her life to help support her family.  Her working career began at the Post Office, then on to McKay’s Garage (where she met her future husband), Connelly Motors, the Husky, Star Transport and finally Grant Transport.

Once retired, mom became a bookworm.  She so enjoyed reading a good book,  therefore leaving behind a large inventory of books and passing on her love of reading to the future generations.  She kept a spring in her walk with her love of song and dance.  If she wasn’t working in her flower beds, she would be in the kitchen baking (just recently trying a new cookie recipe) or wearing out pencils at crossword puzzles or working away at large jigsaw puzzles.  She had an impeccable memory for her age.

Mom was a very proud but stubborn woman.  Family meant everything to her.  When we were younger, we all enjoyed many camping adventures and travels across the country.  As we grew older and moved away, at the drop of a hat, mom and dad would travel south and even out of the country to be with us kids and their grand-babies.

As per her wishes, there will be no service.  If desired, donations to the Community Cancer Care will be gratefully acknowledged by her family.
