Obituary of Winnifred Walker

WINNIFRED “WYNN” WALKER (NEE WARK)

Winnifred “Wynn” Walker departed this life on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the Temiskaming Hospital with her family at her side.  She was in her 81^st year. Born November 26, 1937, in Hilliard Township, she was the 5^th of 6 children born to Lawrence and “Minnie” Wark (nee Pletzer).

Wynn was predeceased by her parents, and all 5 of her siblings: Ken (Ruth); Muriel (Gib Lowe); Vernon (Iris); Ron (Mary) and Iris (Steve Harman). She was further predeceased by a daughter who died at birth.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Walter Kenneth “Ken” Walker, and by 3 offspring: Alan (Jessica); Brian (Monia) and Karen (Mark Baldwin). Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.

Wynn was a dedicated wife, mother and home maker, and was loved by all who got to know her (she was a quiet, shy girl from the farm). She had many talents that included crafts, floral decorations and sewing. She loved to decorate her church with different seasonal themes along with beautiful banquet and event décor for many special occasions. She survived 4 bouts with cancer, beginning in 1991 and the last being in the year 2000.

In recent years, she valiantly battled with alzheimer’s disease plus heart valve issues. Her suffering is over, and she is in a far better place. She will be deeply missed by family and friends, but we cannot wish her back.

Funeral service will be held at the Perrin Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 17 at 11 A.M. conducted by Rev. Nicholas Kostyc.  Visitation will be held from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. prior to the funeral.
