Obituary of Douglas Glen Waugh
The death of Douglas Glen Waugh occurred at the Temiskaming Hospital on Sunday February 25, 2018 after a short illness.
Doug was born on October 25, 1939 in New Liskeard to Amy (Tucker) and Jesse Waugh and was the third generation to farm the family homestead in Harris Township.
He is survived by his wife, May, by his sister, Linda Nelson (David) of Peterborough, brother, Ted Waugh (Maureen) of North Bay and brother-in-law David Pessah of North Bay. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, to whom he was a favourite uncle.
Doug is predeceased by his first wife, Cecile Kirkey, and by his sister, Edith Pessah.
He made friends everywhere he went and always had time to socialize. His ability to remember names and details of those he met was legendary. He was often consulted by local historians for information which he was usually able to provide.
His hobby was collecting “junk” and he was the “go-to” person for spare parts for older machinery and he willingly shared his treasure with anyone who asked.
A celebration of Doug's life will be held on Monday July 2, 2018 from 1pm until 3 pm at the Perrin Funeral Chapel.
Memorial donations can be directed to Temiskaming Hospital Foundation, Care Close to Home Campaign.
A private interment will take place in the family plot in Lakeview Cemetery.
