Lorne Johnston

Obituary of Lorne Johnston

In loving memory of Lorne Johnston, who passed away peacefully December 11, 2017 at the age of 88 surrounded by his children at the Beverly Boros Palliative Care Unit at Temiskaming Hospital.

Lorne had been a long time resident of Dymond Township, where he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing and raising his children, and in later years hiking the Pete’s Dam trails, and following the ups and downs of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Lorne was predeceased by his loving wife Agnes (nee Porteous) in 1987, his sisters Beulah (Harry Reimer) and Margaret (Tom Gilmer) in 1999, and his brother Richard (Bridgette) in 2013.

He is survived by his brother George ( Lorraine ), sisters Shirley ( Claire Wigle ), Cora ( Mel Wright ) and Betty ( Bill Dice ), sister-in-law Vida Digulla, his children Brian ( Rose ), Jenny ( Gary Lee ), Tom ( Karen ) and Bill ( Nancy ), 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In 2012 he became a resident of the Northdale Manor. The family truly appreciates the care and concern that was shown by the Manor staff and residents over the last five years.

The family would also like to thank the medical staff at the Temiskaming Hospital for their care in his final days.

Internment is planned for the spring of 2018 at the Rosegrove Cemetery in Kenabeek, with a celebration of life to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
