Obituary of Jeannine Rivard

Rivard, Jeannine (1937 – 2021) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jeannine Rivard (née Dénommé) on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the Temiskaming Hospital. Jeannine was born in Englehart, Ontario on April 23, 1937 to the late Marie (née Cardinal) and Joseph Dénommé. Jeannine was predeceased by her loving husband Gérard Rivard (2012), their son Michel Rivard (2008), her sister Aurore Rivard, brother in law Arthur Rivard, brother Wilfrid Dénommé, sister in law Yvette Dénommé, sister in law Gabi Dénommé, brother in law Harold Scarrow and brother in law Jean Alarie. Jeannine will forever be loved and remembered by her children; Jocelyne (Denis) Despres, Guy Rivard and daughter in law Lucille Rivard her cherished grandchildren; Joel, Claire, Sam (Marlayna), Maggie, Martin, Eric and Claudine, and her siblings; Sally Scarrow, Florence Alarie and Leo Dénommé. She loved to receive guests, regardless of the time of day. Amazingly, she was always prepared to serve any size group a fantastic home-made meal that was accompanied by the tastiest desserts. Nobody ever left her table hungry, and few got to get away without playing a hand or two of cards! Jeannine who was mostly self-taught, was a person of many talents. She was a seamstress like no other. She could knit and crochet with such ease. The quilts she made were prized by family and friends alike. She was skilled at baking and cake decorating, and, at one point, she even took up the art of stained-glass and painting. Her family is so lucky to have so many of her handmade gifts to remember her by. Jeannine was a dedicated volunteer at the New Liskeard Hospital gift shop for many years. She participated in fundraising for the "Care Close to Home" charity that meant a lot to her and the community. As per Jeannine’s wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will have a ceremony in the summer of 2021.
