Muriel Jacksic

Obituary of Muriel Jacksic

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our mother, Muriel Therese Jacksic (nee Gosselin) on December 9th, 2020 in her 85th year in Mississauga, Ontario. She was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph Jacksic, in January 2019, after 59 years of marriage. She leaves behind her children Steve (Carole Lalonde), Brian, Nicole, and Jeff, grandchildren Brea Anna, Kimberley, Mitchell, and Kayleen and great grandchildren Zoey and Daxton. She also leaves behind her sisters Peggy Sowinski (Peter), Gisele Howe, Madeleine, and Celine Clarke (Al) and her brother Michel (Janine) plus many nieces and nephews. She joins her pre-deceased brothers Guy (Agatha) and Jeff (Therese) and her parents Jeannette (Bergeron) and Lucien. Muriel was born in Montreal and the family settled in Brethour township a few years later. This is where she lived and worked on the family farm and supported her younger siblings until she moved to Sarnia for work as a young adult. She later returned to Brethour where she married Joseph Jacksic in 1960 and the family eventually moved to Dymond township in late 1967. She made family her priority throughout her life. She moved to the Westbury Long Term Care Residence in Etobicoke in late 2018 with Joseph to be closer to Brian, Nicole, Jeff and Mitchell. We shared two years of wonderful memories here, having weekly dinners and enjoying many laughs together. In 2019, we had a lovely surprise birthday party where Muriel was able to celebrate with her siblings and extended family. Muriel had an independent, fun-loving spirit, and a great sense of humour. She was always generous to her children. She was a kind soul who loved her family and friends deeply and didn't hesitate to share her feelings openly. She will be remembered for her tremendous personal strength, resilience, sharp wit and feistiness until her last days. She enjoyed travelling and had a love of fashion and anything with "bling". The family would like to extend a big thank you to the many caregivers at the Westbury Long Term Care Residence and numerous support workers, many of whom developed very strong bonds with mom. They routinely went above the call of duty to keep mom safe, comfortable and entertained during the difficult times. We would also like to thank the many caregivers at the Northdale Manor in New Liskeard and the Temiskaming hospital for the love and support they've provided her during her time there. Cremation has taken place and Muriel will be laid to rest with Joseph at the New Liskeard Catholic Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in mom's memory will be appreciated by the family.
