Obituary of Patricia Hurtubise

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Mrs. Patricia (Pat) Hurtubise on June 30, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born on August 14, 1943 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She was the devoted wife of Dr. Andre Hurtubise and loving mother of Marc and Lori (Maloney) Hurtubise, Karen Hurtubise and Karl Smith, and Kate (Hurtubise) and Alain Plante. Her grandchildren Sean and Ethan Hurtubise and Julia and Camille Plante meant the world to her. Pat also leaves behind her sister Sally Rayes (Wagde Rayes), her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Gilberte Hurtubise, her cherished nieces, nephews and great-nephews, as well as her very dear friends. She is predeceased by her parents Mary (Beaufield) and Patrick Slattery, and her sister Eileen Slattery. Pat was very knowledgeable, had a keen sense of humour, and had many talents. She earned a bio-chemistry degree from the University of Ottawa and worked in a geology lab shortly after graduation. However, most people knew her as Dr. Hurtubise’s office administrator. Pat loved to sew and cherished her time at the sewing camp where she made many close friends over the years. Pat will be forever remembered by her children for her incredible example of selflessness, grace, courage and faith. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren for her unfailing love, her words of encouragement, her sharing of sewing and baking tips, and the many family gatherings made so memorable by their Grammy's special touch. Friends will remember Pat for her kindness, generosity, big heart, and her willingness to listen. She donated her time sewing for those in need and volunteering for a variety of causes in the community. Pat always greeted everyone with a smile and kind words. She is an inspiration to her family and those who knew her. A private mass for family will be celebrated in her honour at Paroisse Sacré-Cœur in New Liskeard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation - Care Close to Home. “Your heart is bigger and grows to accommodate.
