Dianne Brookes

Obituary of Dianne Brookes

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dianne V. Brookes (née Blain) on April 18, 2020. She was a loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. Dianne aged of 69 years old passed peacefully surrounded by her daughter and sister at the Temiskaming Lodge in Haileybury, Ontario. Born in Uno Park, Ontario, she faced many challenges beginning at a young age but her strength, determination, faith, and love for her family never let it stop her. A devote Catholic, she believed in kindness, compassion and forgiveness and instilled in her daughter these values. Dear daughter of the late Herman and Annette Blain (née Ethier). Also predeceased by her husbands Gilles Robert and Oakley Brookes. Dianne was the beloved mother of Victoria Brookes (Jan Lacko) and proud grandmother of Hayden Pearson. Dianne is survived by her brothers Gerald (Monique), Bruno (Diane), Laurent (Ruth), Michel (Lise), sisters Lise (Ernie) and Claudette; sister-in-law, Carmelle (Doug); and her many nephews and nieces. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Dianne was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her daughter and embraced every moment with her. She especially loved her role as Grandma. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. She loved to go bowling, play bingo, do crossword puzzles, and watch Young and the Restless but being around children and animals are what really made her day. We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks the Temiskaming Lodge staff and Fay Gatenby for taking such good care of Dianne over the last few years. At this time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation or service. A memorial service will be held at Perrin’s Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard, at a later date, with interment of ashes in the New Liskeard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Animals Rescue and Sanctuary are welcome.
