Obituary of Aimé Plante

In loving memory of Aimé Plante, who passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14th, 2019, at the Temiskaming Hospital, at the age of 75.

Aimé will always be remembered as a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 54 years, Irene (nee Breault); proud father to his three children: Martin (late Ginette), Carol (Alain) Paquet, and Stéphane (Nathalie); loving grandfather to his six grandchildren: Luc (Carolyne and Jayden), Pierre (Jackie), Martine (Richard), Janelle, Mathieu (Courtney) and Philippe (Sarah); as well as a very proud soon-to-be great-grandfather to Alexi.

Aimé was the youngest sibling of five children and is survived by his dear sister Florence (late Lorenzo Hotte) of Pembroke.

He was predeceased by his parents, Damase and Aurore (nee Trudeau) of Uno Park, and his three brothers: Laurent (late Bonnie Charbonneau) of Kapuskasing; Conrad (late Rose Beaudry) of Englehart; and Réal (survived by Gaby Dupuis) of Charlesbourg, Québec.

Also left to mourn are the Breault family; the Paquet family: Jeremy (Suzie) and Jessica (Allen); countless nieces and nephews for whom he was labeled as “everyone’s favourite uncle”; many extended family members for whom he was the “go to guy” if they needed help with anything; as well as many cherished friends.

Aimé will always be remembered fondly as a man of principle with solid integrity, a huge heart, and an infectious smile. He was a hard worker with a longstanding career as a machinist at Wabi Iron and Steel, and Ontario Power Generation; an avid bowler on several teams over a span of 55 years; a dedicated volunteer fireman with the Dymond Fire Department for 38 years; he had a passion for the outdoors: hunting, boating, fishing, canoeing and camping, especially with his family; and his happy place was spent tinkering in his garage. He was a creative handy man who could fix just about anything with what he already had on hand, and a man whose quiet wisdom and advice was often sought out and well‑respected. 

His memory is embedded in many hearts and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Pat Logan and Dr. Céline Léger, the Care Partners and Findlay’s Drug Store, as well as the wonderful staff at the Temiskaming Hospital for their attentive care and compassion.
