Obituary of Joan Clattenburg

In loving memory of Mrs. Joan Clattenburg, who passed away at the Temiskaming Lodge on Sunday September 29, 2019 at the age of 88.

Joan will be missed by her children Dan (Trish) Clattenburg and Carol Easterbrook, her grandchildren Craig Clattenburg (Lindsay Inglis), Mark Clattenburgh, Brian (Lisa) Cherry and Sue-Ellen (Dave) Morrison and her great grandchildren Ellen, James and Stephen Cherry and Davis and Joshua Morrison.

She was predeceased by her parents Michael Connelly and Wilma Craig, her husband Raymond, her sisters Sharon Mercier and Peggy Marcell, her daughters Linda Cherry and Donna Chadwick and her son-in-law Larry Easterbrook.

Joan began her career working for the Temiskaming Speaker until she married Raymond in 1949 and became a stay at home mom for their 4 children. While raising her family she worked part time as a housekeeper, janitor and book store clerk. In 1977, Joan and her family moved to North Bay where she worked in a book store before attending Canadore College to become a florist. She was employed in the florist business until she retired in 1992.

Volunteering was an important part of her life. She sat on the boards of the Cobalt United Church, the Cobalt Library and Community Living. In her spare time she assisted in fundraising efforts for numerous charities. When Joan moved to North Bay she was the secretary for the Young at Heart Seniors Fitness Club, a member of a bird watching club, involved in her church choir, the community choir, the YMCA's Childrens program, Cassell Home and the community beautification group.

Family and friends will be received at the Perrin Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 1 pm until time for the service at 2. Rev. Judith Visser officiating.
