Edward Zaleski

Obituary of Edward Zaleski

It is with much sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved father, Edward Victor Zaleski, who was born November 27th, 1939 and died Tuesday, August 20th, 2019. Ed was predeceased by Irene Zaleski, his loving wife of 52 years and his parents, Irene and Frank Zaleski of Kirkland Lake Ontario.  He will be missed by his older brother, Frank Zaleski, and his younger sister, Phyllis Zaleski. Ed will be sadly missed by his three children, Lori Anne Rogers (David), Tara Lynn Zaleski (Daniel Diggins) and Jayson Edward Zaleski. He was Grandpa to Emma Sian Rogers, Elias Quinn Rogers, Esme Rose Rogers, Chaya Marie Diggins and Jacob Edward Diggins.

He will be fondly remembered for trips to the cottage, feeding “Chippy” and finding worms to go fishing on his beloved lake Anima-Nipissing. Always an outdoors man, Ed was at peace in the wild. A handy woodworker, Ed made many items for both home and cottage and for friends and family alike who treasured them for their perfect details. Many will remember Ed as a local police officer who served and protected his community of New Liskeard for many years. A man with a very green thumb, Ed enjoyed getting his hands in the earth in the early spring and planted many fruits, vegetables and trees. His pride and joy of course was his bounty of garlic which has been shared far and wide and he dubbed his “Polish Gold”. Ed took much pride in maintaining his home and had perfect green grass. Ed wrote, “Do not stand and cry at my resting place, I did not die, I just went to be with mom (Irene).

A gathering to honour Ed will be held at 184 Haliburton Avenue East on Saturday, August 24th from 1-5 pm. Donations in Ed’s name can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Association or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
